Tehran reports attacking a American military facility in Bahrain, as Iran launched operations throughout the Middle East in retaliation for a large-scale and ongoing offensive targeting the nation by the US and Israel.

Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an zone in the area of the headquarters of the American Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The scope of any impact is not yet known and the American officials has yet to issue a statement.

Airspace Engagements

Elsewhere across the region, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and the State of Kuwait - all home to American military installations - stated they have intercepted incoming projectiles in their airspace.

In the Qatari capital, the Qatari Ministry of Defence said it had successfully engaged several missiles apparently targeting the al-Udeid air base, the biggest US military installation in the Middle East.

Operation "Truthful Promise 4"

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard stated it was targeting American facilities and interests as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the attack on Iran carried out by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday.

That initial attack - initiated at around 06:15 GMT - has so far focused on locations linked to the the regime, with US President Donald Trump calling on the Iranian people to rise up against the government.

Additional Developments

In the State of Israel, sirens were heard nationwide after the Israeli military said it had identified an incoming Iranian missile barrage.

The defence ministry of the United Arab Emirates announced that the nation has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"UAE air defence systems responded to the missiles with high efficiency and shot down a number of missiles," the statement continued.

The statement noted wreckage landed in a residential area in the capital, causing some structural damage and fatalities.

The US Air Force operates from Al Dhafra Air Base, south of the Emirati capital, along with the Emirati Air Force.
