Nigel Farage Accuses Educators of ‘Poisoning Our Kids’ on Racial Topics
Nigel Farage has asserted that teachers would go on strike within weeks a success at the polls for his party, accusing them of “harming young minds” by instructing children that black pupils are victims and white children oppressors.
During an event for a Michigan-based religious institution, Farage outlined his viewpoint on the UK education system, stating that the “radical left-wing” had “now in control of our education system”.
“I expect a teachers’ strike soon after winning the next general election,” Farage commented in response to questions.
“They are poisoning our kids. They are telling them to feel guilt about their nation. They are telling little Johnny, who’s eight, who is black that he is oppressed and a white child of the same age that he is an oppressor. They are dividing us, instead of fostering unity. They promote this negative culture.”
Reacting to Farage’s claims, Daniel Kebede rejected the notion that the schools were under Marxist influence as “absurd”. He pointed out that industrial action must relate to educators’ working conditions, and questioned whether the party would target these immediately upon entering government.
“The politician has crafted his public life on coded rhetoric and now, like Trump, he is lining up teachers and their unions for a conflict,” Kebede stated.
“This is highly reckless. Neither I nor our union – advocate such divisive theories as he claims … Should he become prime minister he would sell out our public services, including education … and he would be a disaster for students and learning.”
Reform, which is leading the polls by a significant margin, has provided limited specifics on a proposed education policy and seems not to have appointed an education spokesperson.
However, his comments indicated the party would overhaul the system and the curriculum. He said: “We face an enormous task with schooling – absolutely herculean. Moreover, we can’t do it in six months or a year; it requires years, years to turn this around.”
He stated that younger generations are receptive to critical thinking, but older youth were “completely lost”.
Paying tribute to Charlie Kirk, Farage said: “All I want education to do to foster independent thought – to educate individuals that there are two points of view and you make up your own mind as opposed to what’s happening now where one is virtuous and one is evil. It’s a massive job in both Britain and America.”
Reform has previously clashed with a major educators’ organization, after Kebede called the party “far right and racist” and described the leader as “a cheap imitation”.
The politician has charged Kebede of being “an avowed radical” … an individual intent that young minds be corrupted at school, their minds should be poisoned regarding national issues” and has argued that the union is trying to indoctrinate teenagers against Reform.
Roughly a million individuals are employed in education in the UK, with educators comprising half and the others teaching assistants and support staff. The leading teachers’ organization has about 450,000 members.
National strikes over teacher pay and conditions in 2023 led to significant interruptions in educational institutions and extensive missed instruction for students.
During the American gathering, the Reform leader also vowed to promote the digital courses of the Christian college in the UK. He stated such groups were “part of the fightback”, adding that: “I am serious. I’ll assist garner hundreds of thousands, if not millions of youth to these educational programs. I pledge this tonight and I’ll do that.”
The college, a small private Christian college, offers free courses. According to its online description: “A scientific, literary, theological, political, and moral education is necessary for personal happiness and to perpetuate the blessings of civil and religious liberty. The college furnishes these excellent programs for free to all who wish to learn.”
