The Porcine Pardon: Hog Named Six Seven Pardoned by Miami-Dade Leader.

Although not quite at the equivalent scale as granting clemency to holiday birds, but the mayor of Miami-Dade experienced a Donald Trump moment this week by ceremoniously saving the life of a pig named Six Seven.

Daniella Levine Cava carried out the annual tradition at the Cuban-style Latin Cafe 2000 in the core of Miami’s Little Havana neighborhood.

“This pig is innocent. Clemency is justified for her. No offenses are on her docket,” Levine Cava said in a speech with inescapable allusions to the sheer volume of executive clemencies issued since the onset of a current administration.

“Unless you count eating 6 or 7 apples per day,” the mayor added. “Let this swine have a prosperous future away from worry.”

The event, simultaneously observing and challenging the area's customary feast of consuming swine during the holidays, was established to mirror the annual turkey pardoning at the White House.

The animal, contributed by a local firefighter, was named for the modern linguistic fad of young people yelling “six seven” – deriving from a musical verse – often without clear purpose. The phrase became so ubiquitous that a major dictionary recently named “6-7” its 2025 word of the year.

A New Life

This particular pig is now destined to live out its days at a countryside refuge “far from charcoal and roasting pans”, according to the organizers' announcement.

“This swine clemency has become a cherished method to open the end-of-year celebrations,” said Eric Castellanos, in a notably cheerful message.

“It represents the essence of Miami: joyful, varied, and grounded in customs that foster togetherness. Annually, we are proud to celebrate culture and compassion in a way unique to Miami.”

Attendees enjoyed a vegetarian menu of croquettes and Cuban coffee as they celebrated the pig's pardon.
